I contacted the learning center but they asked me to wait for a month and haven’t responded to any of my queries after this.

What is better, an MBA or a Masters in a business related field?

international mba programs
by infomatique

Question by mayerj72: What is better, an MBA or a Masters in a business related field?
I studied business as an undergrad and would like to go to grad school now. When I look into mba programs however, I realize that I have already taken all these courses. It’s usually classes like Finance, Management, Marketing etc. So I would feel as if I would be repeating everything, especially since all the classes are taught from an introductory level.

There are Masters programs in business for International Business, Marketing, Management, Finance etc. These courses seem to build up on an actual business degree, so I would be more inclined to do that.

However, it seems that MBA’s are regarded higher than Master degrees, even though I believe that the Mater is harder. The admission process seems to be more competitive for an MBA and usually you have to take the GMAT. I also read that with an MBA you can get into high positions and with a Masters you can’t. Is that true? Because it wouldn’t make any sense to me.

I am just really confused what to go for. A Masters in a business field such as Marketing, Mangagement, International Business etc. or an MBA. What do you think I should do coming from a business background?
It also seems that most people who go for the MBA come from a non-business background. The MBA seems to teach only the most basic business skills. Far fewer classes than I took as an undergrad. So why would it be considered better in case it really is?
But what is better? An MBA or a Masters???

By the way, I took 3 accounting classes and 4 finance classes as an undergrad. For the MBA program you only need 1 course each.

the finance course you took as an undergrad is NOT the same as the one in grad school…. the latter is MUCH more involved…..

Make sure the MBA School offering the online mba is AACSB-accredited.
(The most notable exception is Heriot Watt University, which has a world-class online MBA, but is not AACSB-acredited).

Are MBA’s really necessary?

Question by : Are MBA’s really necessary?
Or would a normal Master in a business related field also be good enough?

Usually the MBA was created for people that never ever studied business before. But my undergrad is in business and I was even thinking of getting a Master in business. That would be 5 years of business school in total. I don’t see how a 1 year MBA that mainly includes people that never studied business before can replace that.

Your undergrad gave you all the contents of the box the MBA will give you the information on how the box is packed.

An MBA is always beneficial even if it is just another line on a resume or job application. Bottom line is it looks good and shows completion of post graduate studies.

Remember “Knowledge is Power!”

Good Luck

Can’t make the decision!?

distance mba programs
by GC Communication

Question by blackdahlia616: Can’t make the decision!?
I have been admitted to the Clark University’s MBA program. I have two choices at hand.

First, is to accept this offer. If I accept it then I have no choice but to pursue MBA in Finance and am not very keen on doing that. My parents will have to shell out a lot of money for this course. In fact they have already put in a lot of money towards the application process. But if I pursue it I do not know if I will be able to handle the curriculum. My major interest lies in Organisational Behaviour.

Second choice is to apply next year. In this case I will have to give the GMAT again (and again am not sure if i will be able to improve my score) and also wait for another 6 months. Also, I will have to undergo the application process all over again. I will have to arrange for the 3 reference letters, transcripts, etc. I have already had a bad experience this time while arranging for these. The plus point in this case would be that by the time I start applying afresh I would have 17 years of educational background (12+3+2). (Currently enrolled in a distance learning program). Problem arises with the work experience since I left my job of 2 years this year just so I could take up MBA abroad. I don’t know how this would look on my resume.

All this might sound confusing, but that is the kind of state of mind that I am in right now. Please help me make my decision. I would really appreciate.
